Did you know that people who ride ebikes spend more time in the saddle than folks who ride traditional bikes?
It makes sense. When you have some power behind the pedals and a throttle at your fingertips, it’s easy to go for longer, more fulfilling trips.
Since you’ll be racking up all those miles, we wanted to share a few safety tips from our help centre that can keep the ride going.
These in-depth guides have been put together by our team of experts, so please take the time to go through them. Whether you're a longtime Rad rider or gearing up to take your new ebike out for its first spin, they’ll tell you everything you need to know.
Get to know your battery
Your battery is one of the most important components of your ebike. Not only does it represent the power in Rad Power Bikes, but when you take proper care of it, you can protect yourself from potentially hazardous situations.
Familiarize yourself with our battery guide. It can tell you how to charge it properly, what you need to know before storing it, and introduce you to some of the lesser-known threats. (Hint: saltwater and batteries are definitely not a mix.)
Keep your front wheel secure
Most Rad models have a quick release function for your front wheel. This comes in handy if you need to perform maintenance or are looking to shave off a few inches when placing it in the trunk of your car.
However, once it’s time to reattach the wheel to your ebike, you need to make sure it’s firmly secured.
Our help centre has a walk-through that takes you through every step, and gives you guidance for double checking your work.
Know when (and how) to change your tires
After hundreds of miles, tire treads wear down – and sometimes, a hidden nail or shard of glass can bring about their end a lot sooner than you’d hope.
Keep an eye out for signs of wear and tear, and when it’s time to swap in a new tire, make sure you follow all the proper steps before hitting the road.
Our help centre can help you fix a flat, replace components, and keep your tires properly inflated.
Adjust your brakes
Stopping your ebike safely is just as important as riding your ebike safely.
Pay attention to your brakes, and be prepared to adjust them whenever you notice a decline in their performance, like if they start to feel looser or aren’t bringing you to as quick of a stop as they used to.
Our help centre has answers to everything you need to know about brakes, whether they’re the standard mechanical disc brakes or the hydraulic disc brakes on the RadRover 6 Plus, RadCity 5 Plus, or RadRunner 3 Plus.
Brush up on the safety essentials
What’s the pre-ride checklist? How often does my ebike need maintenance? No matter what stage you're in of your ebike journey, it’s always helpful to go back to the basics to make sure you’re taking the best possible care of your ride.
