What is the distance I can go on a single charge?
The high capacity 48V battery will propel you at full speed for 20-25 miles or much further at a slightly reduced speed. There are many variables that effect exactly how far you will be able to travel on a single charge like wind, hills, payload, and speed. We get an average range of 40 km in commute/urban environments and 32 km with really heavy loads and steep hills.
How fast does it go?
The RadWagon has a top speed of 20 MPH without pedaling. The 48V battery pack and direct drive motor means you go from 0-32 km/h rapidly but the bike is limited to a 32 km/h top speed, which is the legal limit in most locations for use on road.
How much power does it have?
The RadWagon has 500W of power on demand. The LCD meter provides a continuous display of power consumption while you are riding.
How do you control the motor?
The RadWagon is equipped with both a throttle and a pedal sensor. You can use either system to control the speed of the electric motor. If you want to cruise without pedaling the twist throttle can be used or if you enjoy pedaling and want to feel more like you are riding a regular bike (with an awesome silent electric motor) you can use the pedal sensor by entering one of the 5 levels of pedal assist.
What is pedal assist, how does it work and why does the RadWagon have it?
Pedal assist uses a cadence sensor built into the drive train of the ebike which reads when you are pedaling and automatically turns the electric motor on to provide assistance when you are pedaling. Start pedaling and the sensor tells the motor to turn on. You can adjust the level of assistance with the LCD screen from 1 (lowest amount of assistance) to 5 (highest amount of assistance) to match your desired speed. Since you are pedaling, using the RadWagon in pedal assist mode will generally result in a longer range compared to throttle only mode.
How many charges will my battery last for?
RadWagon’s Panasonic lithium-ion battery cells will provide approximately 800 “full” charge cycles before a replacement is recommended. A full cycle is considered one complete discharge, so if you only discharge the battery halfway before recharging normally, your battery will last for twice as many trips! You can discharge the battery 50% and charge it back up to 100% twice to equal one complete charge cycle.
Does the battery have a memory effect?
No. The battery has no memory effect unlike other battery chemistries meaning you can charge your battery after each and every use, even if you just take a spin down the block. The battery is completely self-managing and the charger stops automatically when the battery is fully charged.
How long does it take to charge the battery?
On average the battery takes 5-6 hours to charge with the included 2 amp charger, but that time is cut in half on shorter trips where you only partially discharge the battery pack. If you fully discharge the battery pack it can take even longer to charge.
Do I have to pedal?
No. There is both a throttle and a pedal assist system. You can pedal and the electric motor will kick in and provide you with assistance, and there is also a twist throttle that will override the pedal assist and allow you to ride the Wagon more like a motorcycle, only silent! The level of pedal assistance will determine how much boost power the motor provides based on your peddling input. Level 1 will be just a little and level 5 will get you moving like a pro cyclist. The throttle is always 0-100% power depending on how much you twist your wrist!
What colors are available?
The RadWagon is available in orange or blue.
Does the RadWagon have regenerative braking?
Yes! Using a brushless direct drive hub motor allows the RadWagon to have regenerative braking enabled as a standard feature which allows the user to slow down when traveling downhill or coming to a stop, and charging the battery in the process.
How do you turn the RadWagon On/Off?
The RadWagon turns on once you engage the battery “on” button and hold down the mode button on the handlebars for 2 seconds.
What is the size of the bike?
It uses 26’’ wheels and tires and the frame is a unisex design meaning it fits a wide range of individuals. The frame is closest to a 17’’ frame on a conventional frame sizing chart and from our experience it fits well for people between 157-188 cm tall.
Does it come in a women's specific version?
The RadWagon uses a unisex design frame meaning it works well for men and women.
What is the weight limit?
The weight limit for the RadWagon is 159 kg including rider and extra gear.
Can I put a rear bag on it?
Most off the shelf bike bags, panniers, and cargo bike bags fit just fine, but some may require some modifications and tuning to get fitted.
How steep of a hill can the bike go up?
Hill performance depends on the weight of rider, gear, steepness of the hill, as well as some other factors. The 48V 20 amp motor controller surprises everyone we have had test ride the RadWagon.
What is the lowest and highest the seat sits off the ground?
With the seat post fully extended the top of the comfort saddle sits 42’’ from the ground and at its lowest point the seat is 32’’ from the ground.
How much does the bike weigh?
The bike weighs 32 kg out of the box.
How much does the battery pack weigh?
The battery weighs 3.3 kg.
How many gears does the RadWagon have and why does it have gears if it is electric?
The RadWagon has a thumb shift Shimano 21-speed gearing system. Although we find that users rarely change gears because the electric motor takes away all the strain, it is still useful to have gears whenever you decide to pedal while cruising, trying to get more exercise, or extend your range. The combination of gearing and the 5 levels of variable pedal assistance from the motor means you can always find the most efficient gear and pedal level to go the distance!
Is there a power usage or battery gauge on the bike?
Yes, there is a full-screen LCD display. There is also an additional LED battery gauge on the side of the battery pack. 2x the info!
Is there a switch to prevent accidental starting?
Yes, there is an on/off button on the battery pack and an on/off button on the LCD remote. The brake levers also come standard with a safety power stop switch built in.
How do I lock it up and what can I do to help minimize the chance of it being stolen?
The RadWagon has some great anti-theft features including a locking battery pack that can either be locked onto the frame or removed and brought inside for charging and safe keeping, a permanently attached LCD display, and rear wheel which is bolted down to the dropouts to reduce the chances of a thief stealing the wheel from the bike. Most standard U-locks and cable locks work fine on the RadWagon. We recommend using the strongest possible lock when locking your bike.
Does it work in the rain?
The components are all water resistant and work very well in wet conditions, but you should take care to keep your bike parked indoors whenever possible and in a dry location when in storage. The display, motor, battery pack, and throttle are all designed to operate just fine in a normal drizzle or a soggy wet morning commute in Seattle, but you should always take care to dry off your bike and store it properly between use.
How do I assemble the RadWagon?
What happens if something breaks on my RadWagon?
Our ebikes use standard bicycle components meaning replacement parts can be found at any local bike shop (LBS). All of the electrical components are easily swappable in case you need a replacement, or want to upgrade your battery in coming years. The RadWagon is so smart that it’s electrical system will actually tell you what is wrong in the case of an error. The LCD readout displays an error code when a component is at fault allowing you to pinpoint the problem right away!
Does the RadWagon have a warranty?
Every bike is covered under our manufacturer's 1-year, all-inclusive warranty for the original owner against all manufacturing defects.
Is it possible to replace the batteries?
Yes! The battery can be easily removed and replaced by a turn of a key to unlock the battery, allowing you to lift it right off for replacement. Our high-quality Panasonic cells should provide years of dependable service but when a replacement or spare pack is needed, it is as easy as unlock and lift!
Can I replace or add parts to the RadWagon?
You can customize the RadWagon however your heart desires, you can even deck it out like the bike from Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. When purchasing parts, check with your local bike experts or reach out to Rad Power Bikes if you have any questions about compatibility of new parts.
How do I replace the tires when they have worn?
The RadWagon rims fit standard 26’’ tires and most bike shops carry replacement tires. You are also able to purchase replacement tires directly from Rad Power Bikes.
How do I turn on the headlight?

Is assembly required?
The RadWagon will arrive mostly assembled. You will need to attach the front wheel to the fork, the handlebars to the stem, the footboards, the kickstand, the headlight, and screw in the pedals to the crank arms.
