Please take the time to closely familiarize yourself with the RadCity Owner’s Manual, instructional videos, and the following best practices to help you get the most enjoyment from your new ebike. Do not operate your new RadCity without completely reading and understanding the owner’s manual and best practices. Contact Rad Power Bikes for more information on support or with tech support questions.
For assembly instructions please refer to this instructional video and study the owner’s manual. Assembly and initial adjustment may require special tools and skills to assemble and fit the bike to the rider. It is recommended that this be completed by a trained bicycle mechanic. The RadCity arrives nearly fully assembled however the pedals, seat post, front headlight, front fender, and front wheel need to be installed before the bike is tuned and fitted to the user.
If the brakes do not cut off the power immediately discontinue use and contact Rad Power Bikes. If any other items in the above checklist are out of order immediately discontinue use until the item is serviced.
Battery Care and Charging
The RadCity battery should be recharged after each and every use. The charger automatically stops when charging is complete. You can check the level of charge using the LCD display battery meter or the small LED meter on the side of the battery pack closest to the charging port.
When riding with pedal assist active, you should always start in pedal assist “Level 1”. Be sure you are in a clear area with no obstacles before starting off with the pedal assist system. Once you begin pedaling, the pedal sensor will activate the motor after 1-2 seconds. If there are any obstacles in your path you could collide with them if you are not anticipating the power of the pedal assist system to provide propulsion. Ensure you are firmly mounted on the bike and ready to ride with power assist before starting to pedal.
When you stop pedaling, there is a 1-2 second delay before pedal assist shuts off. This is to reduce the pedal assist power surging on and off whenever you stop pedaling momentarily, usually to adjust your foot on the pedals or your seating position. If you need to stop suddenly when using pedal assistance, apply the brake levers to cut the power off and slow the bike. Always be prepared for the pedal assist power to remain active for a few seconds after you stop pedaling, and use the brake levers whenever you require the pedal assist or throttle power to be stopped immediately.
To turn on the headlight and backlight on your RadCity's display, press and hold the middle and top button on the left side of your handlebar (the buttons that you use to adjust your pedal assist level). Riding a bicycle at night is much more dangerous than riding during the day. Check reflectors/lighting equipment and their mounting hardware regularly to make sure they are clean, straight, functional and secure. If you choose to ride in poor visibility conditions, first check to ensure you comply with all local laws regarding night riding.

Riding Off-Road and In Wet Weather
We do not recommend riding the bike in conditions that exceed your or the bike’s ability. Riding in extreme terrain is not recommended and in some cases can void your warranty. Wet weather impairs traction and visibility for the cyclist and vehicles sharing the road. The stopping power of the brakes, traction of tires and grip of the rider's feet on the pedals are all lessened in wet weather. If your feet slip off the pedals, tires lose traction, or the brakes cannot stop you appropriately it could lead to a fall.
Riding in Hilly Terrain
In hilly terrain, it is recommended that users always pedal to assist the bike in climbing up hills. This can be accomplished by setting the pedal assist level to “Level 1” or "Level 2" or by riding with the twist throttle only partially applied. Never ride up hills which exceed a 15 percent (%) slope with the motor fully engaged. If you want to ride up hills steeper than 15% slope, first set the pedal assist level to “level 0, level 1, or level 2”.
Steep Hills and Hub Motors
Be sure to pedal with your RadCity when climbing steep, lengthy hills.
Wheels and Tires
There are some important best practices to follow to ensure long life and safe operation of your bike wheels and tires. Electric bikes travel at higher speeds on average compared to regular pedal-only bikes, and they are also heavier in comparison; because of this, users must take care to never abuse the RadCity wheelset.
Using the Brakes
Check disk brake pads regularly and ensure they are properly adjusted and are not worn out. Always ensure both front and rear brakes are operating properly before riding, never ride with a single brake. Always apply both brakes evenly when slowing.
Maximum Payload for RadCity
The total maximum weight limit of the RadCity (125 kg) includes the weight of the rider. The kickstand is not designed to be used for loading cargo.
Total payload: 125 kg
Carrying Children, Other Passengers, and Gear
The rear rack of the RadCity is designed to accommodate a Thule Yepp Maxi Child seat, but total weight should never exceed 27 kg.
